Oh.

I almost forgot. Obama won the presidential election. Yay America!

Obama Rally

I just got back from an Obama rally at the Liberty Memorial in Kansas City. There were an estimated 75,000 people there. It was awesome.

You can see some of the photos I took in my Flicker photoset of the rally, and you can see some videos I took of the rally at my Vimeo page.

Who do you support in the 2008 U.S. presidental election?

Troop Surge

I haven't had much political stuff posted on here before, but I had to say something now that Bush wants to send more targets to Iraq. I call them targets because that's what they are. The troops have no objectives in Iraq except to "get rid of terrorists". They just go around and shoot at (and be shot at by) terrorists. It's like an arcade game; there are a bunch of bad guys and a bunch of good guys. There's no point to the fighting, just that the bad guys are bad. There is no end to the bad guys. The only difference in real life is that there are multiple groups of bad guys, and they're fighting amongst themselves. You are training some of the "bad guys" to fight alongside you and be your friends. Also, unlike in an arcade game, in real life you can negotiate with the bad guys and reach an agreement. What do you do, just insert more coins and get more lives until you've killed a million bad guys? The only thing you will have succeeded in doing is uniting everyone against you.

We need to have more of a plan in Iraq than "kill bad guys". We need to negotiate. It's like a court case. Specifically, Apple's court case. Apple is being sued because Linksys already trademarked "iPhone" in 2000. Linksys and Apple were negotiating fine, until Apple's lawyers just got up and left. Now Cisco, Linksys' parent company, is suing Apple. The solution to Apple's suit is the same for Iraq; you don't just add more lawyers, you NEGOTIATE. It's an old saying, but it's true: Violence is NOT the answer!

Although we might have messed up Iraq so badly that any chance for negotiation has already passed. So basically we're screwed.
